An update from your Area Director, Ben Smith, PGA:

Area Director’s Update

The Carolinas PGA SUPER SHOW marks the beginning of my second year in service as the Lowcountry Area Director. 2018 was a unique year as it was the first time our Area and Chapter had elected the same leadership. Serving in this dual role has been beneficial and eye-opening. Our Area is blessed with a great number of Professionals and resources to benefit our Members; however, sometimes we struggle with a redundancy of effort. In great news, our Section, Area, and Chapter all exist for the shared purpose of benefiting our Members and Associates, and we are well-positioned to work together to create great experiences!

As we enter 2019, our main focus in the Lowcountry Area is to better coordinate our resources and talents so that we provide our Members and Associates with the best possible education and tournament opportunities. We continue to explore how we can accomplish our shared objectives and maximize the results of our efforts. I’m excited to dive deeper and see how the relationship between our Section, Area, and Chapter will grow and evolve!

Area Spring Events Schedule

We are expecting a tentative calendar of the following educational and tournament opportunities in the Lowcountry Area. Be sure to check out our Area / Chapter page at the Section’s website for updated information throughout the year!

February

  • HHIPGA Pro-Pro, February 11 at Palmetto Dunes

March

  • EZ-Go Old South Pro-Am, March 2 at Old South Golf Links
  • Volunteers in Medicine Pro-Am, March 11 at Berkeley Hall
  • CPGA Players Championship, March 25-26 at Berkeley Hall
  • Lowcountry Area/HHIPGA Meeting and Area Golf Challenge, March 27 at TBD

HHIPGA Chapter Dues Update

With our plan to work more closely with the Section on educational opportunities, we’re reviewing the Dues structure for Area members and associates to join the HHIPGA. Be on the lookout for an update on our program for 2019 to come out shortly after the CPGA SUPER SHOW.

Fellow Professionals in Leadership Roles

With our relationship between the Area and Chapter evolving, there are a handful of fellow Professionals that our Area owes a great amount of gratitude for their efforts!

Matt Bova – HHIPGA Vice President and Education Committee Chair
Charles Fox – HHIPGA Secretary / Treasurer
Mark Teed – HHIPGA Tournament Director

These three Professionals continue to dedicate a large amount of time to facilitating our local meetings, educational events, and tournament series. On behalf of our Area Professionals, thank you for your service!

Finally, the following Professionals have stepped up to volunteer their time and join Matt, Charles, and Mark on the 2019 HHIPGA / Area Education Committee:

Jason Baile – Belfair Golf Club
Andrew Itterly – Charleston Country Club
John Kauzlarich – Belfair Golf Club
Adam Kushner – Berkeley Hall Club
James Scales – Wexford Golf Club
Dylan Thew – Kiawah Island Club

If you have ideas for education events or topics that interest you, please feel free to reach out to these Professionals. We’re all here for you, our fellow Professionals, so that we can continue to grow and provide the very best golf experience for our members, guests, and fellow Professionals.
