From: Tim Wilke, PGA – Belmont Lake Golf Club
We are going to be hiring an Assistant Golf Professional at Belmont Lake Golf Club some time in the immediate future. I will inform you that person’s name in the next update. Everything has gone great at Belmont since mid-April when the faucet was turned off. The golf course is in it’s best shape ever right now. We are doing great. We had the Swing Thought Tour here in June and that experience was outstnading. The players loved the course and conditions and their scores reflected it. The winner was (-17) for three days and won $10,000. Everything else has been great and busy.
From: Zack Winstead, Associate Professional – Nags Head Golf Links
This year has been a great success. We were able to use local people to staff through the busy season. We used college aged young people in the golf shop, F&B, and cart and maintenance staffs. Due to the dry weather through the summer, we were up 10% in rounds of golf over 2018 thinking we will be 15-20% by year’s end. Our pro shop sales of soft goods went great, using tactics such as “Beat the Pro” and “Kick Back Passes” for spending a certain amount on merchandise. Club and equipment sales are down due to internet and big box stores being able to beat our prices. Using internet base tee time systems seems to drive traffic, but at a discounted rate.
In an effort to grow covereage of our events and programs, we ask that you forward any media contacts you may have in your area to myself or CPGA Director of Marketing Sally Morgan, PGA at the section office.
