An update from your Area Director, Jim Lohbauer, PGA

August 2019

Fall is just around the corner and many of us are gearing up for a busy season of events and activity at our respected facilities. The summer has been nothing short of hot and humid as we would expect, and I am sure all of you, like me are ready for the temperatures to cool down a little. I hope everyone had a chance to spend some time with your families and enjoy time away from the club during the off season.

The Greater Charlotte Area is partnering with the Highlands Area for our Fall Meeting on Tuesday, November 19. We are proud to partner with TopGolf in Charlotte as the host venue which will provide us a great spot for our meeting and some fun afterwards. Our Section staff will be on hand to help facilitate the meeting and make this a great day for all. We anticipate a large crowd with the addition of the Highland Area so please mark this date on your calendar. We will share more specifics as we get closer.

Our next big Area event will be the Harvick for Heroes PGA Reach Charity Pro Am. This is the 2nd annual event and helps raise tremendous monies for both foundations. Kevin Harvick has already sold out his portion of the field and the CPGA is actively looking to fill a few more team spots to make this a full field. This event is limited to 22 teams, so I encourage anyone interested to contact the Section to learn more and register your team. We are also looking for additional donations for auction items to help raise additional funds.

Upcoming Events in our Area and Section:

  • CPGA Pro Official, Kiawah Island Club River Course, September 9
  • CPGA Professional Championship, Treyburn CC, September 24-25
  • Harvick for Heroes PGA Reach Pro-Am, Charlotte CC, September 30
  • CPGA Women’s Pro-Pro, Rolling Hills CC, October 22
  • CPGA Match Play Championship, Old Chatham, October 29-30
  • Greater Charlotte Area Fall Meeting, TopGolf, November 19
  • CPGA Pro-Pro, Pinehurst, December 3-5

I would like to welcome two new Associates to our Area: Kennedy Ramsey from Rocky River GC and Brian Robinson from TPC Piper Glen. Congratulations to you both and best of luck in your journey to gaining PGA Membership. If anyone is actively pursuing PGA Certification or Master Professional and needs assistance, please do not hesitate to call or email me for support. I encourage all PGA Members to consider advancing their education and separating themselves as true experts in our industry.

In closing, I hope that all of you have a great remainder of summer and fall at your respected facilities and enjoy time with your families. If there is anything I can do for you as your Area Director, please call or email me anytime. Our next Board Planning Session is set for late September so if there are any specific concerns or topics you would like me to address, please let me know.
